CNCEC Initiates Substantial Construction Phase for 100,000-Ton Silicon Metal Plant in Oman

On March 26, 2024, according to reports from China National Chemical Engineering Third Construction Co., Ltd. (CNCEC) on its social media platforms in China, the company’s Deputy General Manager recently visited Oman to conduct in-depth research on the 100,000-ton/year high-purity silicon metal by CNCEC Oman Limited.

This development signifies that the construction of the highly anticipated silicon metal plant in Oman has officially entered a substantive construction phase, further highlighting CNCEC’s role as the contractor.

Previously, it was reported that the owner of the silicon metal plant is United Solar Polysilicon, with the possibility of influential figures in the photovoltaic industry, including Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Longgen, behind it. The specific production line supply for this project has been confirmed to be provided by SHUANGLIANG GROUP.

SHUANGLIANG GROUP disclosed in a public announcement on January 16 of this year that the company successfully won the bid for the United Solar Polysilicon (FZC) SPC’s 100,000-ton/year high-purity silicon metal project located at the SOHAR Port and Freezone in Oman, with a bid amount reaching as high as $58.32 million.

With CNCEC’s on-site research, the project is expected to accelerate further.

The smooth implementation of the 100,000-ton/year high-purity silicon metal project in Oman is not only significant for the owner, United Solar Polysilicon but also signifies the rapid construction and vigorous development of the Middle East’s first silicon metal plant with Chinese investment.

For CNCEC and SHUANGLIANG GROUP, the successful construction of this project will serve as another highlight in their international business expansion, further enhancing their influence in the global market.
